In-Home Family Supports Supports are available to individuals with developmental disabilities who live in the birth or adoptive home. This service provides for paid staff to perform in-home assistance to support individuals to meet their daily living needs.
These services provide necessary assistance for individuals to meet their daily living situations. Supportive home care provides direct assistance to individuals in daily living and personal adjustment, attendant care, assistance with medications that are ordinarily self-administered and accessing medical care, supervision, reporting changes in the individual's condition and needs, extension of therapy services, ambulation and exercise, household services essential to health care at home or performed in conjunction with assistance in daily living (e.g., shopping, meal preparation, clean-up after meals, bathing, using appliances, dressing, feeding, bed making, laundry, and cleaning the bathroom and kitchens), and household maintenance related to the consumer. The supportive home care worker can accompany or transport the individual to accomplish any of the tasks listed above or to provide supervision or support for community activities.
Respite is temporary care provided to individuals in order to provide relief to non-paid family members who serve as the primary caregiver. Respite is necessary for families who provide constant care to individuals so family members are able to receive periods of relief for vacations, holidays, and scheduled periods of time off.
Sleep Cycle Support provides overnight assistance in the individual's home in case of medical emergencies (i.e. individual frequently needs suctioning, necessary repositioning, high medical needs). This service is limited to individuals unable to be alone at night due to anticipated medical problems only. A statement of medical necessity needs to be obtained from a physician.
The CDDO has many people who provide Supportive Home Care, Respite Care, and Sleep Cycle Support. Some people who provide this service associate with a Billing Agent. A Billing Agent is an agency that is affiliated with the CDDO. They provide a service by processing the timesheets for individuals who provide In-Home Family Supports. They ensure that the State of Kansas is billed for the hours worked and account for all necessary deductions, including taxes, unemployment, and worker's compensation, if applicable. They provide the worker with a paycheck and charge a fee for completing this service. Please click on this link if you would like a list of Billing Agents in Johnson County. |
